Bullet too mighty at Gawler
Sep 23, 2012
A polished front-running performance has enabled Almighty Bullet to post his first win for the John Hyam stable in the Gawler Jockey Club Maiden (1100m) at Gawler.
Almighty Bullet joined the Hyam team after beginning his career in Victoria. The son of God’s Own showed solid form in town at his first three runs for the stable before his Gawler success.
Jockey Troy Baker made use of barrier three and a quick beginning to have Almighty Bullet setting the speed but a pair of the four-year-old’s rivals pressured him throughout the first 600 metres of the race.
Baker let Almighty Bullet quicken rounding the home turn before asking the gelding for an effort at the 250 metres.
Almighty Bullet dashed away from his opposition to score a decisive three-length victory to break his maiden at his eighth start.
Almighty Bullet has plenty to live up to in his pedigree. He is one of eight winners from as many to race out of the Sydney metropolitan winner Beat The Bullet.
The gelding is a half-brother to the dual Group 1 winner Hollow Bullet and the Listed winner Red Hot Mama.
Red Hot Mama has thrown the Listed winner Mama’s Choice and the stakes-placed Red Hot Choice.
Congratulations to Almighty Bullet’s owners - Mrs P Y McFarlane, Mrs K L Harris, S L Harris & A G McFarlane.
