First city win for Almighty Bullet

Oct 09, 2012

Almighty Bullet took his terrific provincial form to town to claim his maiden city win in the Family Fun Day Handicap (1250m) at the Morphettville Parks circuit.

The son of God’s Own broke his maiden in terrific fashion at Gawler at his previous start before improving on that effort to complete back-to-back wins.

Troy Baker was aboard Almighty Bullet at Gawler and retained the ride at Morphettville.

Almighty Bullet shared the lead at Gawler but Baker decided to take a trail behind the leader on the four-year-old for the first half of the race.

Baker took the gelding forward to challenge the leaders from the 400 metres. Almighty Bullet let down well to eke out a 1-1/2 length break on his opposition with 200 metres to travel.

Baker got the best out of Almighty Bullet over the concluding stages to hold off the charging backmarkers to beat Test Century by a half-head.

Almighty Bullet’s win was his second from nine starts but took his record for the John Hyam stable to two wins and two placings from five runs after the horse began his career in Victoria.

Almighty Bullet has now won $39,000 in stakes after his latest win.

Congratulations to Almighty Bullet’s owners - Mrs P Y McFarlane, Mrs K L Harris, S L Harris & A G McFarlane.
