Believe gives Hyam more on the Parks track
Oct 27, 2012
Consistent sprinter Believe In More took his earnings through the $200,000 barrier with his fast-finishing victory on the Morphettville Parks track on Cox Plate day.
The gelding went into the Hino Trucks Handicap (1000m) second-up after a reasonable fresh effort at Morphettville a fortnight earlier.
Troy Baker resumed his partnership with Believe In More after Chad Lever rode the gelding at his previous start. Baker had won twice previously on the six-year-old, including his last victory at Morphettville on February 25.
A fast early pace left Believe In More at the tail of the field in the early and middle stages but Baker remained calm, biding his time until the home turn
Believe In More had plenty to give when Baker asked him to improve into the race at the 400 metres.
The son of More Than Ready made good ground to be within striking distance of the leaders early in the straight before the gelding swept home over the top of his opposition to score comfortably.
Believe In More’s 1-3/4-length victory was his ninth from 43 starts with the $23,100 winner’s cheque taking his stakes tally to more than $205,000 as he continued to prove himself a terrific campaigner for connections.
Congratulations to Believe In More’s owners - W K Longman, K A Baker, D L McGrath, P T Kelly, S M Kelly & T S Hyam.
