Yet another spring victory for Almighty Bullet

Nov 03, 2012

Emerging talent Almighty Bullet continued to go from strength to strength after the gelding completed his third win from his last four starts in the Holdfast Insurance Brokers Handicap (1200m) at Morphettville.

Almighty Bullet started his spring campaign with a Gawler maiden victory before taking his form to town to score in Rating 71 company at Morphetville on October 6.

The son of God’s Own finished second at his next start in similar company on October 20 before tackling his toughest test to date in Rating 75 grade at his last outing.

Troy Baker took over aboard Almighty Bullet after trainer John Hyam decided to use an apprentice for the gelding’s narrow defeat at his previous contest.

Baker quickly overcame a wide draw to have Almighty Bullet travelling comfortably behind the leader from barrier 11 soon after the start.

Circumstances for Almighty Bullet to do the donkey work carting the field up to the tearaway leader approaching the home turn but the promising prospect had plenty in hand for his finishing burst.

Almighty Bullet sprinted quickly at the 300 metres to hit the lead halfway down the straight before staving off a flood of challengers late in the race to score a clear one-length victory.

Almighty Bullet posted his third win from 11 starts with his latest success and the $15,000 winner’s cheque took his earnings to more than $58,000.

Congratulations yet again to Almighty Bullet’s owners - Mrs P Y McFarlane, Mrs K L Harris, S L Harris & A G McFarlane.
