Esprit De Bullet rockets home like half-brother on Parks track

Nov 10, 2012

His half-brother Almighty Bullet won at Morphettville a week earlier so it was incumbent on Esprit De Bullet to keep up the family’s winning ways on the Parks track.

Almighty Bullet scored brilliantly seven days earlier while Esprit De Bullet had to fight hard to beat the classy Richard Jolly-trained mare Draw Forward in the CFMEU Handicap (1000m).

The $34,000 event was Esprit De Bullet’s second run for the John Hyam stable after racing in Victoria for Caulfield trainer Mick Price during his previous campaign. Esprit De Bullet finished third at Murray Bridge at his first outing for Hyam.

Matthew Neilson rode Esprit De Bullet while Troy Baker partnered Hyam’s other runner Believe In More in the Rating 94 event.

Neilson positioned Esprit De Bullet behind a fast speed before the son of Bel Esprit moved into contention from the 400 metres.

Esprit De Bullet hit the lead with 200 metres to run before Draw Forward charged at the seven-year-old late but failed to stop him notching his sixth win from just 15 starts.

Believe In More did a good job to finish fifth after conceding a start to his talented stablemate while carrying 1.5kg more weight.

Congratulations to Esprit De Bullet’s owners - A G McFarlane, Ms L Bennett, P Cunningham, A V Gray, A J Grose & Mrs P Y McFarlane.
