Two from three for Richie's Vibe
Feb 16, 2013
A no-nonsense ride from top jockey Shayne Cahill ensured promising galloper Richie’s Vibe earned his first city win in the Adelaide Galvanising Handicap (1200m) at Morphettville.
Richie’s Vibe had little trouble winning his maiden on debut at Gawler on January 23 before getting back and running on well for fourth at his first start in town on February 2.
The son of Danerich took great improvement from that effort into his third start where an inside barrier also aided the handy prospect’s chances.
Cahill made use of the gate to have Richie’s Vibe travelling comfortably behind the on the inside rail soon after the start while many of his rivals raced erratically.
Richie’s Vibe had plenty to offer rounding the home turn but a run did not appear for the gelding until Cahill made his own luck with 200 metres to travel.
Cahill shouldered the horse on his outside out of the way before Richie’s Vibe quickened well to hit the lead with 100 metres to travel.
The runner-up Debeersonus made a determined late bid but was unable to prevent Richie’s Vibe posting his second win from three starts.
Richie’s Vibe earned a $21,300 winner’s cheque for his Morphettville success, taking his prizemoney tally to more than $29,000, surpassing his $10,000 purchase price at the 2011 Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Congratulations to Richie’s Vibe’s owners - L V Houldswourth , M J B Baker & Mrs T S Hyam, Syndicate A1 (Mgr : B Witt).
