3rd STAKES WINNER IN A WEEK FOR DUKE OF MARMALADE

The hot run being enjoyed by young sire Duke of Marmalade continued at the weekend with three year-old colt Count Of Limonade taking out the Listed Celebration Stakes at The Curragh in Ireland on Saturday.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien reported that the three-quarter brother to dual G1 winner Lillie Langtry is now likely to step up to Group company.

"He is tough and very like his daddy,” said O'Brien. "He is getting better with age and likes fast ground. We will look for a Group race for him now.”

Count Of Limonade was scoring in a week in which Duke of Marmalade had already posted two new stakes-winners, unbeaten G1 Irish Oaks prospect Venus De Milo winning the Listed Oaks Trial at Naas and Duchess Lemonade taking the Listed Preis Dusseldorf in Germany.

Duke Of Marmalade is currently the leading 2nd crop sire in Europe in terms of winners, wins, stakes winners and black-type horses (see below) with his leading performers also including another unbeaten G1 Irish Oaks prospect in exciting filly Alive Alive Oh.
