Another city win for War Is Over

Jan 31, 2015

Unusual training brought the perfect result as War Is Over strode to another city success at the Morphettville Parks track.

War Is Over showed terrific staying ability before a break with a win over 2500m at Morphettville as well as placings over 2400 and 2600m.

War Is Over finished last of 14 at his first run for seven weeks on January 17 but the gelding had the residual fitness to allow trainer John Hyam to take the unusual step of jumping him up from 1500m to 2400m.

Apprentice Josh Cartwright took 2kg off War Is Over’s handicap, leaving him with 57kg to carry in the Projection Graphics Handicap and a cool ride helped the son of Commands to another win.

Cartwright had a few issues to negotiate early as another runner clipped War Is Over’s heels leaving the straight for the first time but the Victorian rider was able to get his mount balanced and comfortable early in the back straight.

War Is Over travelled sweetly for Cartwright until the young jockey asked his mount to improve through the field rounding the home turn, which left him within two lengths of the leaders at the 400m.

War Is Over rounded up the front-runners halfway down the straight before drawing away late to score his sixth win for the John Hyam team by three-quarters of a length.

War Is Over earned another $22,000 for his latest success, taking his stakes tally to more than $180,000.

Congratulations to War Is Over’s owners and all involved with his latest metropolitan win.
